Whistler Day 5 & 6

I am so sad to be writing my last of the Whistler blog posts. I know that all vacations have to come to an end, but it is always so hard to think about life returning to normal!

We called Wednesday a series of unfortunate events. Thankfully we kept our sense of humor and still managed to enjoy each other and have a good day.

The day started off really good with breakfast at an amazing restaurant right next to our condo. I'm still dreaming about the banana bread french toast.

The first event happened after Colter's first nap. I found what I thought to be an amazing river about a mile away from our condo on the valley river trail so after Colter woke up, we headed out. Colter was not at all excited about being in the stroller so we were singing non stop songs and shoving 50 different toys in his direction trying to keep him going; after all this river was going to be worth it! At one point he had a frog in one hand, Sophie the giraffe in the other, and a duck dangling from the stroller top. As we neared to where the river was supposed to be, we didn't see any water. We kept going a little further until Ben looked at the map and looked at me and said "this blue area is not a river, this is a single track mountain bike trail that is rated a blue." Needless to say, we trekked 2 miles with a crying baby to stare at a dirt trail way too bumpy to take the stroller. There was still some amazing scenery and beautiful flowers along the way to make it worth it!

The next event happened in the afternoon when we decided to be super ambitious and go to a disc golf course. We thought it was a great idea to take the hiking back pack and trek Colter around the course. Welllllllllll that didn't exactly work out that well :) We got lost driving there, we couldn't find the start of the course, Colter pulled off his hat and dropped it, leaving him totally blinded by the sun, and in a matter of 5 minutes I swatted 3 mosquitoes off of Colter. After 2 putts and Ben almost losing his disc twice and realizing how hard it was to pull Colter on and off his back, we vetoed disc golf. I love that my husband doesn't make a big deal of things that don't work out. As we were walking back to the car he simply said "well, you live and you learn!"

Doesn't Colter look so thrilled about being ditched in the middle of the wilderness?

We stuck close to home for the rest of the day and ended up having a really enjoyable afternoon together. The day ended on a great note after a long soak in the hot tub!

Today was absolutely fabulous. In the morning we went to the Olympic Winter Park where we saw the long jump from the Olympics and we also stopped at an incredible waterfall.

Here is Colter practicing his Olympic moves

In the afternoon we went to one of the many nearby lakes and enjoyed some quality people watching and beautiful scenery.

Colter has taken a major liking to my water bottle. He has actually figured out how to pinch and suck so he gets quite a bit of water!

This picture made me laugh.. Ben was pulling some paparazzi moves taking pics of me wandering the woods trying to get Colter to sleep. I was more concerned about bears sneaking up on me since we saw some bear poop on the trail right by the lake.
