January update!~

Hello to my fellow three blog readers. Sorry for the lack of recent posting, don't worry- I am no where close to delivering this little man who doesn't feel so little any more. At our 36 week appointment today Ben asked the OB what to do if I go into labor this weekend while we are in Portland. She laughed and said "you're not going to go into labor this weekend." (she did answer his question, don't worry).

We've been busy putting the finishing touches on Colter's room- we finished the tree, and finally
bought changing pad covers. We even installed the car seat in preparation of our jaunt out of town this weekend.

Two weekends ago my wonderfully talented sis took some maternity pictures for Ben & me. I heard this perfect song on the radio that I wanted to put the pictures to, but for the life of me I can't find the lyrics! So without further ado, here are some of my favs:

Two weekends ago we also went on the first of my twelve pre planned dates of the year. Ben kicked off the dates by choosing the replay date, where we recreated our first date. It is kind of sketchy to remember our first date because we basically just fell into a relationship right when we met in person, so we have established that it was when we saw pirates of the Caribbean. Even though it wasn't a part of our first date, we also went out to eat at this fabulous Mexican restaurant. yum! It was even worth the 45 min. it took to find a parking spot!

Last weekend we headed over to Kingston to attend Brayden's first birthday. Wow, it's already been a year! They had the heat cranked up for a luau. We probably looked so hilarious decked out in flip flops and Hawaiian gear on the ferry.

Here is a pic of me and my fellow prego buddy, Lindsey, who is also having a little baby boy in May (probably April since she delivered Kaci 3 weeks early). They are friends already!

I think that about wraps up our recent adventures!

baby shower and nursery update!

All righty, back to the baby shower. What a special day! My friend/neighbor Karissa did some incredible decorations and favors!

The food was incredible.. I don't think that I've ever been to party where everything was one of my favorites! Bean dip, fruit dip, spicy jalapeno dip, slush punch, cupcakes?! yes please!

We played a couple really fun games, watched the awesome rap (see post below) and laughed a lot!
Of course Colter scored some great loot!

All in all, it was such a special day!

On the nursery front, we are making some serious progress. The only things left are minor decorative things, so I am feeling good!

Ben has been such a trooper with all of my panic moments about what we have to get done. He is such an even keeled kind of guy, he just hangs with me and we plug through a million projects running through my head!

It's called pregnancy

I had my baby shower this past Saturday and had such a fun time. It felt so special to be surrounded by so many neat women that I get to call my friends. Pics and details to come later. But FIRST, I must share this hilarious rap that my sister WROTE and then performed with some of my sweet friends. I just about died laughing. We are still waiting on a call from GMA, but I imagine it is coming soon :)

from the mouth of babes..

I have been on a sorting/cleaning frenzy and finally dove into the trunk of my car and found all sorts of interesting things. Last time my mom was up she brought up some of our school work from when we were younger, including a journal from 2nd grade I kept in class. I was in tears laughing over some of the things I wrote. I am attaching my 3 favorite entries:

The hilarious thing about this one was that my dad flew planes for the Navy. I was a little confused apparently. Good thing I noted that he is bald in case my teacher was wondering.

I am sure my teacher had some concerns after reading the post below:

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year! I can't believe that this is the year that Mr. Colter will arrive! We rang in the New Year with the Grants at their house. Earlier in the evening we met up with the Rikalos and went to the bowling alley that was rented out by our church. We got there a little late so all the lanes were full, so we all went over to the Grants together. I surprised myself by staying awake until midnight!
The next day, Jess, Mark & the kiddos came over to use Ben's new fire pit he got for Christmas. It was a perfect night for a fire: clear, freezing and snow still on the ground from our random snowfall earlier in the week. We also busted out some fish tacos and Jessie made some salsa from a new cookbook. Delicious!

Here is a pic of our snowy lawn about 3 days post snow fall. Up until yesterday, the hill leading out of our neighborhood was super icy!

Yeah, I can't believe it either. The start of my 8th month. Wowza!
