still summer September

Summer doesn't seem to want to go away this year.. and I am totally fine with that! The sun is lingering even though the trees are changing.. it's a blissful combination. September was a lovely month.. it moved slowly as we got into a new groove of school starting and slower days.

Jessie had a serious score when we got this free power wheel off a facebook group. The kids took it out for a spin and it was slightly frightening. Colter didn't quite get the feel for steering while driving, so he kept veering off the road. It was an adventure!

It's been so weird to visit parks and have them all to ourselves. That's been happening a lot lately! We visited a new park and had a nice time exploring the grounds, picking the last remaining blackberries, and playing in the woods.

We took a ferry ride with Harlow and Sam from Mukilteo over to the beach park that has the construction equipment. Sam ALMOST missed the ferry and heard the ferry workers complaining that they were holding the ferry for a woman running with her child. haha in the nick of time!

Mary and Greg stopped into town on their way home from Idaho. We had a couple great days with them before Mary caught the 3 week old stomach virus from somewhere in our house :(  I hosted a grandparents day celebration and we went out for a fabulous dinner at Anthony's in Edmonds. They had a brilliant idea to put a huge sand pit outside on the patio so we were able to have a nice dinner while the kids played.

Sweet Saish turned 5 and celebrated with a frozen party. Anna even showed up much to delight of all the little ladies. It was fun to have Maddie all dressed up :)

There's a new construction site by our house (a new Bartell drug store), so we've been enjoying A LOT of construction viewing. Sometimes I think i'm more excited about it than they are! ha

We had an impromptu pizza at the beach night with the Heavilands and mom. I keep thinking that summer is just about to end so we take advantage of every sunny/warm day. I think the drive out of Richmond Beach may be my favorite view ever.

I've always wanted to go apple picking in Washington, but never have. This was a our year. We easily picked 20 lb of apples in about 10 minutes .. there were so many. Unfortunately they were not very sweet and a little grainy, so I don't think we'll do it again, but it was still fun and we got the bonus of checking out the farm with no one else around.

Another empty park

I drove up to Bellingham to spend the day with my friend Jayna and her two boys while Ben had some work meetings. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but we had a fantastic day! We spent the morning at boulevard park.. seriously one of my favorite places! We got some woods coffee and watched our kids play play play on the beach and playground.

We still love the train park. It is awesome how many fantastic, well maintained parks we have in our area.

Arrrrrrrrrr it was national talk like a pirate day and me mateys and I drove down to Krispy Kreme for some free donuts. It was a really rough morning for Colter, so unfortunately it wasn't the greatest of times. I didn't even eat a donut until the next day.. which I would not recommend.

Another trip to the farmer's market. Colter was really into his fireman costume that morning and wore it all through the market. So cute.

After the market we went down to the beach and saw a ton of people at the station. We realized that they were going to the state fair, but making a stop in downtown first. I've been wanting to take another sounder trip with Colter, and it worked out perfect! We caught the train downtown and Ben picked us up. Such a special impromptu time.

We had an early birthday celebration for me at Picnic Point Park. Everyone looked on my pinterest boards and found things I had pinned to make. Everything was so delicious and the weather.. seriously.. it was CRAZY beautiful!

A little girl in cowboy boots.. seriously can't handle the cuteness

Ben and I went away for an entire weekend for our anniversary and birthday.. I'll blog about it later but it was absolutely perfect.

On yet another gorgeous day I took the kids to the locks. There were actually fish in the fish ladder and I think we saw 6 trains go by on the trestle. It was a beautiful day.

That's a wrap!
