Recent days

We've been busy busy! It's fun to now do most things with Colter awake rather then while he is sleeping! We haven't been doing a great job at taking pictures, so this post will be mostly writing. Don't worry, I'll throw in some recent pics to keep the grandparents happy :)

This past weekend we went to 2 birthday parties- our neighbor's oldest turned 3 and Adelle's little lady, Savannah, turned 1. On Sunday afternoon our church had a bbq with a bouncy toy, face painting, cotton candy, and a dunk tank. It will be so fun when Colter is old enough to play! For now he just soaked up all the kids running around on sugar highs after drinking 3 cups of root beer.

Last Friday I had such a fun time getting together with many of the past adoptive moms that I worked with. We met at a kid friendly coffee shop and eventually migrated outside to the play ground so some of the toddlers could let off some steam. It was such a blessing to see all the little ones that I haven't seen since they were only a couple months old. It was also fun not to be the social worker any more and talk about things other than adoption. I hope to do more get togethers soon!
Today Colter and I ventured to the U-District to eat lunch with dad and the Heavilands at this tasty place called I love NY Deli. The sandwiches were seriously intense and PACKED with meat. I now officially smell like i've spent time in a deep fry basket.

Other than that, we've been enjoying getting together for walks with neighbors and setting up play dates with our other friends! Colter also experienced his first library story time. He seemed to enjoy it, but i'm sure over time he will love it even more.

In other major news, Colter man has officially started on solid foods! I really wanted to hold off until he was closer to 6 months just to avoid the extra cost of feeding him food, but this guy had a different idea! For a few days he kept gumming his mouth like there was something in there. While doing this, he kept going "mmmmmmmmm" One night I went to nurse him before bed and afterwards he was mad! I brought him downstairs and told Ben I think we needed to try feeding him something more. We plopped him in the bumbo and fully expected him to spit out all the food since it was his first time. Wrong again! He went crazy. He was leaning way over in his bumbo with his mouth wide open. The best way to describe how he was acting was a crazy black Friday shopper right before the doors open at Wal Mart. He ate 2 T in like 5 min and slept amazing (supposedly solids don't increase their sleeping time, but for this guy it has). What a fun first milestone!
