At the beginning of the month, I arranged a field trip at the fire safety center in Richmond Beach. It is such a spectaular place, perfect for Colter's age. They have TONS of fire trucks to play with, kid size fire outfits, a fire pole to slide down, and a truck to play in. They also give a short but to the point fire safety talk. Our little fireman Sam was SO into it. He did so well sharing toys, and handling the chaotic nature of all those kids. The minute we left, he asked when we could come back!
It was such a beautiful day that we went to the train park afterwards and soaked up the rays. The kids love to be swung these days. I've blasted them off to the moon about a million times and I love it.
Colter has been wanting to climb this tree since he was 2 years old. This was the first time he got up there all by himself. He was so proud.
My good friend Jill was due with her third little one in a couple weeks, so I decided to give her the morning off to do whatever she wanted, while I took her two kiddos on an adventure. We cruised in the nana van, and first stopped off at red twig for some treats, then walked on the Mukilteo ferry over to the beach for some fun.
One night we dyed Easter eggs. This was the least stressful year so far. The kids were both pretty into it and there were NO spills.
Easter 2015. We started off the day with a mildly succesful bunny pancake.
All of our family rarely attends church together, so it was SO special to all be there together. We took up an entire row! I will remember looking down the aisle, full so full of people I love and about bursting with thankfulness.
We got everyone in one picture! Even if it did involve holding on to Colter with all my might to keep him from running away!
My mom hosted Easter dinner, which was delicious! I can eat about a million deviled eggs.
An average day at home with both kids in their current favorite outfits.. Maddie in her swim suit, Colter in his fire Sam suit. Maddie and I made cookies together and used some new Easter cookie cutters from Gigi and Grandpa.
Colter is super into the planes fire and rescue movie right now. He has been obsessed with sprinkling powder everywhere (he calls it boraid- a fire retardant), and then he sprays it with his fire hose. We have been going through a lot of baking and baby powder lately...
We got to go to a special event at the museum of flight before it opened one Saturday. It was a sensory friendly event, so the museum turned all the noises and lights down. There was also only a few people there, so it was a highly successful trip. The kids' favorite exhibits was a tie between the space shuttle and the hands on kids area.
Since we were already in South Seattle for the museum, I dropped Ben and the kids off for another light rail adventure. It's nice time to myself, but also really fun for Ben and the kids.
That night, my mom and I went to the Chris Tomlin concert. It was such an incredible night of worship. Chris Tomlin has such joy in his heart, and it pours out of him during his performance. He has such a love for Jesus it is contagious.
This picture cracks me up. Colter prefers to watch the garbage truck from inside, but this little lady wants an up close and personal view. Her little lawn chair cracks me up.
We tried out a new park in Everett and fell in love. We were practically the only ones on the beach. There was also a great park nearby with the perfect fire pole for Colter to slide on. I was so proud of him for going up to a new friend, introducing himself, and playing with the boy for almost an hour. Huge progress!!
Harlow Jane and Maddie are just too much :) They are so sweet together.
Ben and I had a few stressful/busy weeks, and with his birthday coming up, I thought it would be fun to plan a surprise overnight on Bainbridge Island. We had an appointment in the city that afternoon, and after it was done Ben asked "Do you want to go out to dinner?" It was SO fun to tell him that not only did I want to go out to dinner, but we were going away! He got the biggest grin on his face.
It was a little tricky getting on the ferry since it was Friday night and BEAUTIFUL outside.. I mean look at this view!
Once we got to the island, we picked up to go food from the pub since it was a 2 hour wait. We were so sad to learn they took the crab dip off the menu. tear. Our little vrbo was so cute. It was a little one bedroom apartment on the bottom floor of a private residence. The homeowners were so friendly and sweet.
The next morning, we went to eat at a delicious cafe called Blackbird Bakery. Eating out is probably my favorite thing to do without kids. It is so wonderful to be able to just sit, eat without sharing, and talk without interruptions or having to try to distract to buy time.
Our next stop was the Bloedel reserve. It is now a park, but was formerly a private residence on hundreds of acres. It was absolutely breathtaking. Everything was so well thought out and the different variety of flowers, trees, and landscape were so wonderful. I loved being able to walk at our own pace and stop whenever we wanted to. I wish we had our good camera so we could have better captured the beautiful. God has such an imagination when it comes to plant design.
We've had a hard time getting the kids to stay in their church classes. Ben was so kind and let me go to church by myself while he took the kids to the beach.
I took the kids and Mr. Finley for a walk to McDonalds to give Kelsey a little time to run some errands. It sure was sweet giving that guy a little snuggle.
My timehop picture for the day was one I had taken of Colter with all his cars, so I decided to see how many he has now. Boy oh Boy does that guy love his cars!
When I was buying feed corn for Colter's birthday, I saw some barrels with baby chicks in them and knew I had to bring the kids with me. We made the trip finally and they were still there.. as cute as ever. The kids desperately wanted to hold one.
After sufficiently annoying the feed store employees with our crazy kids, we tried to walk to a park. It was a little further than we thought, so we stopped at what we thought was a trail, but ended up being someone's driveway with a no trespassing sign. We tried to convince the kids that it was super fun to play hide and seek and pick flowers at the entrance to a random gravel road. It wasn't super successful and at one point, Harlow and Maddie took off down the drive. Colter tried to be super helpful and chased after them yelling "come back!" He ran back to us, out of breath, and said "I just can't catch those girls!"
We had an awesome but full Saturday. We went to Mighty-O donuts for breakfast, a park I've been wanting to check out forever, and a very full zoo trip. The kids did great. I love that they both love adventures like Ben and I do.
Colter doesn't take naps any more, but if you take him out for a car ride, chances are, this is what will happen.. Those lashes and lips. melt.
We are a part of a buy nothing group for our area. People post things they aren't using any more, and others can claim those things. We scored big time by getting 4 free construction machines. I decided it was time to drag out all our machines to take inventory. I was a little shocked. wayyyy too many things! We paired it down quite a bit and passed on the love. We have two kids that love to dig!
This picture represents three of little lady's loves. Her gray polka dot dress, sitting on the counter, and coloring. She always wants to be up on the counter when I'm cooking and coloring is one way from keeping her distracted and way from flinging the food everywhere. She always has very detailed descriptions of her artwork and usually hums to herself while coloring. melt.
That's a wrap!
