December tidbits

I'll blog about Christmas and Ben's staycation later, but for now i'll fill in gaps for the rest of the month...

My kids are obsessed with whipped cream. So am I. Instead of choosing hot chocolate or a cookie, they will always choose a cup of whipped cream.

Colter basically never wants to be called Colter any more. Every day he wakes up and announces who he will be. On this day, he was Maury from the Wiggles.. hence the red shirt

We surprised my mom on her birthday at her school.

The Edmonds station had a model train display open house. They have some amazing layouts with all kinds of trains. The volunteers are quite interesting and VERY serious about their jobs. The kids loved to watch the trains zip around, although Colter was very dissapointed that we didn't have our own model train set up at home. Someday!

That night our old cg had a reunion party. It was awesome to catch up with people we haven't seen in a while.

We had a Sunday dinner over at Austin's house and we dogpiled Nana with most of the grandkids

Here is Colter as Bob the builder. We have played for HOURS in our garage. He has two tool boxes with pretty much any kind of tool you could want. He loves to glue things to the wood board and hammer away.

Ben and I went out on a date to Bellevue and ate dinner at a dumpling house and walked around the Bellevue botanical gardens. LOVE getting time with this guy.

Here is John the Train man at the UPC neighborhood Christmas party. This was our third year we've gone and every year it is really special. I love the fake snow in the beginning as you walk through the Narnia wardrobe. They added a little Narnia tunnel this year that was fun.

We decided to stop in downtown on our way home. I dropped Ben and the kids off and they rode the electric street car to westlake and then took the monorail back to the Seattle Center. It was a train filled day!

That night we went to greenlake luminaries. We had such a great time listening to a couple caroling groups, walking a little bit, and watching the christmas light boats head into the water.

Maddie fell asleep during church.. don't tell our pastor ;)

Ben finished off the decorations by putting the ornament balls up in our tree. We got into watching the Great American Light Fight on tv this year and Ben and I both have a little urging to go BIG next year. Not crazy to music big, but definitely the talk of the neighborhood big. We'll see :)

We went to leavenworth

Adelle turned the big 3-0 and her hubby pulled off a great surprise party, complete with karaoke and a photo booth

Then the sickness of death rolled through our home.. somehow sparing the adults. Maddie has never been this sick. It started off as a little cold so Ben took Maddie out for some donuts. The calm before the storm...

Then there are no more pictures until Christmas Eve because we basically watched videos, went for a few random drives, and tried to maintain our sanity. Not the way I wanted to lead up to Christmas, but it is what it is. Still a fantastic month!
