Leavenworth

Ben and I haven't been to Leavenworth since before we were married and every year we talk about going. We made it happen this year and it was the best little getaway before Christmas. It was perfect timing because right when we got home both of the kids got really sick and were miserable for a few days. I'm so thankful we had these memories tucked away in our minds as we trudged through days and days of no sleep and cranky kids.

Over the river and through the woods we went..

We scored another fantastic vrbo just a few minutes drive from the downtown area. We got into town early Thursday and after checking out our little townhome, we went to town to go in some of the shops and look at the beautiful lights. We finished the night at a super yummy pizza restaurant.

We woke up Friday morning to a dusting of snow, but it was plenty for the kids to play in. There were a couple huge piles of snow from snow plows, so the kids had fun playing king of the mountain and throwing snow balls at each other.

After warming up in the hot tub, we ventured back into town and went for an incredible walk at the waterfront park. It was such a beautiful day.. the fog slowly lifted and the blue sky started to peak out. It was chilly, but so so so beautiful trekking through the snow along the river.

In the afternoon we went sledding and went back to town one more time. The skies God gave us as the sun went down were indescribably beautiful. It almost felt too perfect.

On Saturday we woke up to a ton of snow and it continued to dump HUGE snow flakes all morning. We built a snowman and relaxed all morning.

The drive home was a little nerve racking for a while because of the amount of snow, but we were soon out of it and back home.

There is not much better than getting away from all the distractions and to do lists that always pop up when we're at home. Love this family of mine
