Little man is 1/2 a year old!

I really can't believe it. You are 6 months old! Well technically you're closer to 7 months, than 6, but we'll just pretend that this post is totally on time.

You are the perfect addition to our family- everyone cannot get enough of your sweet little face and squishy body. Maddie continues to be a top contender as favorite person, with mom a close second. I love seeing you light up the minute she runs up to you, talking to you in her sweet little voice "oh my sweet little bubba! I love you so much! You're just the cutest!" You kick your little legs and get the biggest grin. You don't seem to have much stranger anxiety at this point, but are definitely most calm when in the arms of mama.

It's really hard for me to believe how fast this year with you has gone. We disassembled the bouncy seat, the swing has been long gone, and we even transitioned to putting you in the big bath tub. I may or may not have shed a tear when we took the tub out of the bathroom. Too fast I tell you!

You started sitting up about 5 1/2 months, and was pretty steady by 6 months. We still put a pillow behind you because you will occasionally fling yourself backwards. With all hardwoods,  that makes for a pretty solid head knock. You love to be right in the middle of the action-you can have a pile of his toys all around you but you're constantly reaching as far as he can to scoop up some of the bigger kids toys. I think your heaven would be sitting in the middle of Colter's giant lego bag and stuffing all those legos in your mouth. You like light up and sound toys and anything that fits well in your mouth to gum and suck on. I keep waiting for a new tooth to pop through any day.. your drool production is seriously impressive. You go through at least two outfits a day, mainly due to your serious drool ring that leaves him soaking, or your incredible blow outs produced by the jumperoo.

Overall, you are a very patient and easy going baby. You spend a lot of time being shuttled around and don't complain for the most part. Most mornings, you hang out in your high chair while I make breakfast.  Your favorite toy while sitting in the high chair is the end of a rubber spatula. You will then usually get a little play time on the floor, before a short nap before school drop off. If you haven't had a nap before, I usually race a very tired and sad boy home to get a nap before heading back out again for school pick up. Naps are all over the board. Sometimes 40 minutes, sometimes 2 hours..

Speaking of sleep, or lack there of. Mom and dad have totally bombed sleep training, and we are reaping the results . We've tried getting you out of the swaddle a couple of times, but we always abort the mission shortly into the night when he wakes up a ton. I've been nursing him to sleep and he's been getting up a million times in the night. We always wake up the next morning, saying we're done and he needs to cry it out, and then the night comes and we just want to get through it. Oh boy.. someday we will start working on it!

You like to connect with people around you. You have the sweetest silent stare down and it's the best when I look at you and realize you're just waiting for me to look at you. When we connect, you give me the biggest grins. You love school drop off and pick up because there are so many people around you to look and smile at.

You love to be tickled and kissed. You love silly voices, peek a boo, and caspar baby pants songs. You love snuggly blankets, sophie the giraffe, and the baster from the kitchen. You love the little bug on the jumperoo, and going for walks in the stroller. You LOVE the stroller. You love trying to grab anything in your sight- Maddie tends to get her hair at the perfect grabbing distance when she's talking to you, so i'm always freeing fistfuls of her hair from your tight grip.

You are almost out of size 9 month clothes, and about to transition to size 4 diapers. I took you in to the doctor right around 6 months because you had a cold and big brother had pneumonia so I wanted to make sure you hadn't caught it. At the appointment you weighed right around 17 pounds. You love to nurse... a lot. Maybe it's a growth spurt? You usually nurse about every 2-3 hours during the day, and almost the same at night. You're like a 6 month old newborn! haha

We've tried food a few times, and until recently, it seemed like you weren't ready. You've recently started yanking things in front of you (you even broke a plate at aunties you naughty boy) The last time I fed you oatmeal, you did really well- so maybe you are getting close! I'm going to try starting you with chunky food like I did with Maddie, because it's so much easier than making purees.

We love you so much LEVI!
