More signs of Spring!

We picnicked on Sunday at the University of Washington. The cherry blossoms were out in full force and it was beautiful!

spring has sprung

Spring is here!

We took a short trip up to La Conner to see the daffodils a couple weeks ago!

the move!

Well it's official.. Ben and I are homeowners!

The closing process went incredibly smooth.. we kept waiting for something to come up to slow down the process, but by Wednesday afternoon, we were standing in our empty house holding the keys!

The Heaviland clan came over on Wed. night for some fun

James was super excited about all the empty space.. so we played some "b-ball"

We had the big move on Saturday .. I was shocked when Ben called after an hour to say that they had the whole place packed up, including the couches that had to be lifted over our 2nd story balcony!

We were so blessed to have lots of family and friends over to help!

It still hasn't sunk in yet that this is where we live.. it kind of feels like we're housesitting.. I will say one thing.. it is AMAZING being able to walk 2 rooms away and do laundry :)

just another ordinary day

I am a follower of many blogs that I find interesting .. if you read blogs you know how it goes.. one person writes about another person so you end up on their blog and then another persons blog and before you know it, you are 10 blogs away from the one you started with.

On one of those occasions. I came across the story of Layla Grace. I have followed her story for many weeks and have wept after reading the story of this family watching their little one tiptoe towards death. I think part of what struck me in such a tender part in my heart was the fact she was two years old. I thought about my nephew James going through those treatments and having to watch my sister and Mark watch their little one's earthly body wither away.

Layla Grace died today and I am struck by the realization that so much is going on around me while I focus on trivial things like whether we will get our mailbox keys tomorrow or how many furniture pads we should reserve. One family is making funeral plans for their little girl while I'm worried about when we will be able to get bar stools for our new house.

I read another blog one time that talked about what it would be like if everyone carried a sign around their neck that disclosed what they are going through in that instant. Maybe they lost their job, maybe they just got divorced, maybe their child just died. It's amazing how easy it is to be insensitive to those around us and focus on what we are going through instead.

Here's a quote from one of her parents' blog post: "She has managed to do more Godly works in her short 2 years on earth than most people do in 80. I take comfort in the fact that when she returns home, she will be greeted by the Lord and hear "Well done good and faithful servant"."

What a good reminder of that this little girl was for me. Praying for Layla Grace's family. Praising that Layla is home with Jesus.

warm weather!

The weather was glorious this weekend and we were able to take advantage of it!

Friday night we went over to Dan & Jill's to celebrate Jill's birthday. We played another round of RAGE and we were definitely enRAGEd.

Saturday I celebrated Jill's birthday with the girls while Ben did some packing and met up with a friend.
Saturday night we tried out a new restaurant with Mark and Jess and got some amazing deep dish pizza. We didn't take any pics which doesn't surprised me because we were busy devouring the tasty food!

We came back and took care of some additional business.. destroying Mark & Jess in a game of hand and foot.. I think our lead is now about 9,000 points.. we didn't take any pics because they were busy crying.

We did manage to snag one picture of this little lady chompin away..
